The Digital Pens
In addition to normal ink, the Digital Pen is provided
with a special optical reader which makes
possible to acquire and to memorize data during writing.
The digital pen looks and feels just like an ordinary
ballpoint pen and you use it in the same way.
The pen become active simply by removing the cap: no keys
to press and no display.
A special digital camera is the main part of the digital
pen: an advanced image-processing unit and a communication
unit. As you write, a built-in digital camera in the pen
continuously takes pictures of the patterned paper.
The pen also contains a standard ink cartridge (so that
you can actually see what you have written or drawn) and
a rechargeable battery.
The digital pens support customized forms solutions,
notetaking, organizers and messaging and can be connected
to client or back-end systems using PC or mobile phones.
There are different digital pen brands on the market
today (Maxell,
Logitech,
Nokia…):
GM uses Digital Pen technology for its
Ink.Data services
provision with no bonds with a specific brand. This
allows us to take advantage of every specific feature
and compatibility of every single pen by choosing the
best fitting solution for our customers.
